MINUTES OF THE RENAL PATHOLOGY SOCIETY BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

 

The Renal Pathology Society (RPS) held a Board of Directors meeting on Monday, March 8, 2004 during the annual meeting of the USCAP at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver, Canada.

 

Meeting was called to order by RPS President Dr. Charles Jennette.

 

In attendance were Drs. Bruijn, Nast, Singh, Walker, Bonsib, Jennette, Herrera, Racusen and Fogo.

 

 

I)   The President, Dr. Jennette, called the meeting to order and indicated:

 

1.     Successful satellite meeting-first time held-with 75 participants in the morning and 60 in the afternoon, Monday, March 8, 2004

2.     Those who attended voted to retain this satellite meeting and suggested by majority vote

a)     Satellite meeting should be held annually in conjunction with USCAP.

b)    Should be Saturday, rather than Monday, if one day meeting

c)     A session should include challenging cases to be discussed by presenter in no more than 10 minutes/case and no more than 8 slides.

d)    A significant number suggested ½ meeting to be held Sunday afternoon.

3.     New Councillor is Steve Bonsib and another needs to be selected to replace Dr. Rennke.  Selection by vote of general membership.  Bonsib will serve only two years as Councillor.

II)            Secretary-Treasurer, Dr. Herrera, reported existing balance as of January 31, 2004 of $26,200.13, an increase of approximately $1,400 over last report, 11/30/03-balance then $24,821.37.

III)          Reports of Heads of committees followed.  These are summarized attached to the general membership meeting minutes.

IV)          New business:

Dr. Fogo mentioned that there are ASN funds to support resident travel to the ASN.  Residents interested in Renal Pathology can apply ($800 travel scholarship/per individual).

A committee will be formed to select proposals to be funded by KUFA's money given to RPS.
