Renal and transplant pathology position at the Medical College of Wisconsin

The Department of Pathology is seeking for a trained nephropathologist to interact with nephrologists and transplant surgeons in clinical and research activities.
The Division of Nephrology at the Medical College of Wisconsin is one of the oldest academic divisions in the country.  The Division has over 25 MD, Ph D faculty members involved in education, patient care and research; and is active in nephrology and transplant training program. The Division members provide care for variety of renal diseases at the Froedtert Lutheran Memorial and Clement J Zablocki VA hospitals in Milwaukee. Consultative services are provided through outpatient and inpatient settings for patients with acute renal failure, glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney disease, electrolyte imbalance, diabetic nephropathy, cystic kidney disease, hereditary nephritis, radiation nephritis, and other renal diseases. Long-term primary long-term care is provided for patients with chronic kidney disease, end stage renal disease on dialysis and after transplantation. The Division is active in clinical, translational and basic science research and has many funded projects through the NIH, VA and pharmaceutical industry. The Division members collaborate with the Department of Physiology, Transplant Surgery, Pediatric Nephrology and other clinical and basic science department of the college through the Kidney Disease Center (KDC). Active research on hypertension, proteinuria, glomerulonephritis, acute kidney injury, kidney stones, diabetic nephropathy, cystic kidney disease, genetic, developmental biology of kidneys, cell signaling, transplant immunosuppression, BK virus infection and cancer after transplantation. The Division is ranked as among the top 50 for kidney disease in 2007. According to the Scientific Report on Renal Transplant (http://www.ustransplant.org) the 1-year kidney transplant survival at the MCW is superior to most of the centers in the country.
Approximately 300 renal and 100 liver (native and transplant) biopsies are performed each year at the MCW. The Department of Pathology and the Division of Nephrology provides a nurturing environment for clinical and research endeavor for an academic nephropathologist.
