The Pirani Award

This award honors Dr. Conrad Pirani’s legacy and his contributions to renal pathology.

*** The 3rd Conrad Pirani Travel Award Announcement ***

Donation of funds

The seed-money was donated by Dr Pirani in his will. The original funds have been supplemented by generous RPS members. Please consider a donation to this fund when you renew your membership; check payable to Renal Pathology Society and mailed to the RPS Secretary Treasurer.

The award

The intent of the award is to assist junior members with an accepted abstract whose financial situation makes international travel difficult or impossible.

Junior faculty (instructors, assistant professors) and renal fellows presenting at an international meeting or working outside the USA and presenting at an RPS sponsored meeting qualify for this award. Documentation of need is required for consideration. Up to $1,500 will be awarded to successful candidates (a maximum of two awards / year). Applications should be forwarded to the chair of the RPS Nominations and Award Committee.

Qualifying criteria and nomination procedure

1. Junior member of the RPS (instructor, assistant professor or renal fellow)
2. Accepted abstract to an international meeting
3. Letter from Program Director or Mentor validating need, that is, travel to the meeting will be difficult or impossible without additional financial support
