Renal Pathology Society International Committee

Mission
The mission of the international committee is to facilitate global interaction of renal pathology activities pursuant to the primary goals of Renal Pathology Society, which include improvement of all aspects of renal pathology practice, standardization of training and participation in research.

Objectives
As the incidence of chronic renal disease is increasing worldwide, refined diagnostic modalities, novel treatment protocols and advances in renal transplantation are emerging.  Thus, there is universal need for a fairly uniform, quality renal pathology practice and training, both at the basic and advanced levels.   The Renal Pathology Society with an increasing international membership should take the lead to pursue these and other goals, to reach out to pathologists practicing renal pathology, and communicate with other established Renal Pathology Societies, to address common concerns in a global manner and optimize standards of practice. They can be accomplished with the help of 1) other RPS committees’ and members input, 2) our association with the Nephrology societies, ASN, ISN, ERA-EDTA etc. 3)collaboration with the Working Group of Nephropathology of the European Society of Pathology ESP WGN),  Japanese Renal Pathology Society (JRPS) & The Indian Society of Renal and Transplant Pathology (ISRTP) and 4) Support and funding agencies, e.g. COMGAN, KUFA etc.

Functions of the Committee

  2. Encouraging membership to RPS from developing countries.
  3. Disseminating news of the RPS activities worldwide via an expanded website, in the form of a newsletter.
  4. Enhance RPS involvement in local educational and scientific sessions and workshops.
  5. Assess all aspects of accessibility, level of renal pathology service and infrastructure in less developed areas.
  6. Develop basic standards for processing and reporting guidelines of renal biopsies.
  7. Participate in renal pathology activities in other renal pathology societies, e.g. serving on organizing committees or as speakers.
