Cornell Travel Award announcement (Banff 2026)

With generous support from a longstanding member of the Renal Pathology Society, Dr. Lynn Cornell, we are pleased to announce the availability of two (2) grants to fund travel to the 2026 Banff conference on allograft pathology, October 5-9, 2026, in Banff, Alberta, Canada.

Each Cornell Travel Grant will provide up to USD $2,500 to pathology trainees and junior pathology faculty within 7 years of finishing training, with interest/involvement in renal transplant pathology, from countries classified by the World Bank as low-income or lower-middle-income economies (link here) to defray the costs of registration, travel, housing, and expenses directly related to the meeting.

Applications for the Cornell Travel Grant should include:

1. Applicant CV
2. A brief statement describing the applicant's interest in kidney transplant pathology and anticipated benefit from attending the Banff meeting.
3. A letter of support, if available (self-nomination is allowed).

Applicants should be RPS members; non-members can apply for membership at the time they submit their applications [Renal Pathology Society - Join the RPS]

Applications must be received by the RPS Secretary (secretary@renalpathsoc.org ) no later than May 31, 2026.

IAP Satellite Events @ IAP Meeting

We are having International renal pathologists who will be participating as speakers at the annual IAP meeting in Brisbane. In the lead up to the IAP meeting, we have organised two satellite sessions, dedicated to renal pathology, by the international experts in Sydney on the 27th of May, and in Brisbane on the 28th of May in the evening from 6 to 9.30 pm.

The speakers are well regarded Internationally and experienced renal pathologists. We also have well regarded experienced nephrologists on the panel in both the satellite programs in addition to the international faculty, which we hope will lead to good insightful clinicopathologic discussions.

The Sydney meeting and Brisbane renal pathology meeting programs and registration links are attached. Please do take this opportunity to attend these dedicated sessions on renal pathology. These are free sponsored events and refreshments will be provided.

SCHOOL FRAMEWORK

The CME-accredited International Summer School of Renal Pathology & Precision Medicine (ISSRPPM) will be held at the University of Bari in August and September 2026 with state-of-the-art facilities. This educational endeavor is dedicated to advancing knowledge and improving management of kidney disease. The school builds on previous experience gained through the International Summer School of Renal Pathology (ISSRP) since 2011 and aims to train the next generation of renal pathologists to practice integrated nephropathology.

The school will be organized in 4 modules:

Precision Medicine – Basic Concepts from tissue procurement to data extraction and analysis
Pathology of Native Kidney Diseases with clinico-patholologic and molecular correlation
Digital Pathology and Image Analysis of Kidney Diseases
Molecular Nephropathology & Data Integration

Each module will include:

Formal educational lectures
- Renal Pathology
- Image analysis
- Omics technologies
Hands-on laboratory experience in small groups
- Case review and case study in small groups with trainer
- Image analysis
- Relevant Omics technologies
Data integration & phenotyping-endotyping – Case studies
