Fellowship Opportunity: FELLOWSHIP IN DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL RENAL PATHOLOGY 2022/23 Posted by: Department of Pathology Brigham and Women’s Hospital 75 Francis Street Boston, MA 02115, USA Date: Septemeber 16, 2021 |
The Department of Pathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, currently seeks applications for a 1-year Fellowship in Diagnostic Medical Renal Pathology, with opportunities for clinical or translational research, for the academic year 2022/23, commencing July 1, 2022.
The BWH Department of Pathology is staffed by more than 100 faculty and more than 55 residents and clinical fellows in anatomic and clinical pathology. The Anatomic Pathology Divisions handle almost 90,000 surgical specimens and over 45,000 cytology specimens annually.
Our Renal Pathology Service evaluates a large spectrum of medical renal diseases (approximately 1700 renal biopsies annually) presenting in the native kidney and the kidney transplant. We review renal biopsies performed at BWH, a major center for clinical nephrology and renal transplantation, in addition to serving as a referral center for a large number of cases from hospitals nationwide.
The Renal Pathology Fellow works as part of a team including 3 experienced faculty members in the integrative evaluation of renal biopsies, including light, immunofluorescence and electron microscopy tissue, and attends in-house renal biopsies for real-time tissue assessment and allocation. The fellow also presents renal pathology findings at departmental and multidisciplinary conferences. Involvement in assembling case reports and participation in research manuscripts is highly encouraged. Active research opportunities include a focus on translational research in the field of podocytopathies, as well as a multitude of cutting-edge clinical/translational collaborations with investigators in nephrology, transplantation and rheumatology.
Applicants should have completed core-training in an AP or AP/CP residency program and should be committed to excellent clinical care in an academic medical center environment. The candidate must be eligible for a (limited) Massachusetts medical license. Visa applications and transfers can be accommodated.
The compensation is commensurate with level of training.
Interested candidates should arrange for 3 Letters of Recommendation, and send an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae and to:
